On Saturday, many users in Pakistan experienced disruptions with WhatsApp and Instagram, as well as internet issues with providers Zong and PTCL, according to Downdetector.
Instagram outages spiked, with 86 reports in just one hour. Around 10:45 AM, users began encountering problems with WhatsApp, especially when sending voice messages. People in major cities like Karachi and Lahore also reported difficulties with mobile internet services.
The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) has not yet commented on these outages. Previously, the PTA cautioned that internet speeds might remain slow until early October due to issues with two key international submarine cables connecting Pakistan to the global internet.
These disruptions highlight Pakistan’s ongoing internet connectivity challenges. As digital communication and social media become increasingly essential, outages can have a significant impact on individuals and businesses alike.
With growing dependence on these platforms for work, communication, and entertainment, reliable internet access is more critical than ever. Users are hoping for a swift resolution to the issues, underlining the need for stronger internet infrastructure in Pakistan to manage future disruptions more effectively.
